The Flag Institute, the national vexillogical organisation, recently added the Cumberland Flag to the national flag register. The design, sponsored by the Historic Counties Trust, was derived from the old County Council coat of arms and has been used as a county symbol for some time. The ABC Flag Blog contains more details for the Cumberlad flag as well as ongoing campaigns and registered flags.
