This mission was entrusted to a Douglas in 1330 but death intervened en route\u00a0and so\u00a0the heart was returned to Scotland to be buried in Melrose Abbey. Ever since the heart\u00a0has been\u00a0part of the Douglas arms. The white triangle of the proposed flag\u00a0symbolises the valley of Clydesdale\u00a0&#8211; the county containing the valley of the Clyde river.
