Together these are a reference to the derivation of the county\u2019s name. On the vertical stripe, the three golden crowns are taken from the traditional arms of East Anglia; these also appear on the arms of the Diocese of Ely, located in the county.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Design B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-b.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3246\" src=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-b.png?w=640&amp;h=384\" alt=\"Design B\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The three gold crowns represent East Anglia, in which Cambridgeshire is located. They are placed against a blue field which is the same shade used on the East Anglia flag. The wavy lines represent the River Cam and are in the colours of Cambridge University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Design C<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-c.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3247\" src=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-c.png?w=640&amp;h=384\" alt=\"Design C\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The three crowns on red refer to the the Isle of Ely, where they have been used by both the former council and the Diocese. The broad blue wavy line represents the River Cam. On this three fleur-de-lis, as found on its coat of arms, represent the City of Cambridge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Design D<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-d.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3248\" src=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-d.png?w=640&amp;h=384\" alt=\"Design D\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The crowns represent the coronet of Ely. The Wake knot represents the folk hero Hereward the Wake. The book represents Cambridge University. Purple and gold are the colours of Cambridgeshire.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Design E<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-e.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3249\" src=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-e.png?w=640&amp;h=384\" alt=\"Design E\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Fen Tiger refers to the Cambridgeshire Regiment and more generally to the people of the Fens. Blue represents the county\u2019s waterways; yellow, the rich farmland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Design 6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-f.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3250\" src=\"https:\/\/andystrangeway.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/design-f.png?w=640&amp;h=384\" alt=\"Design F\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fleur-de-lis represent the City of Cambridge, as found in the city\u2019s coat of arms. The blue stripe represents the county\u2019s rivers and waterways and the two green stripes, its extensive agricultural land.
