The recent registration of the new Warwickshire flag by the Flag Institute leaves England with only five counties without a county flag.
The design of the new flag features the fourteenth-century bear-and-ragged-staff emblem traditionally associated with the county. The emblem received a makeover to align with twenty-first-century values and lacks the chains which are common in historical depictions.
The bear is literally ‘set free’, and it is hoped that the people of Warwickshire will enjoy the liberty of their new flag across the county – from Birmingham, Warwick, and Coventry, though to the rural villages of the shire.

Good luck. Let’s hope it can get promoted in the right areas. Gerard
