Bedfordshire Day is celebrated each year on 28th November, the birthday of John Bunyan. The county day is promoted by our friends at The Friends of Bedfordshire Society. We present our Portrait of Bedfordshire and some photos from the day’s celebrations.

Great to see all the historic counties having their own days.

I saw yet another instance of an address in Bedfordshire being written as Central Bedfordshire, which is just a council name and has no connection to an address or location.
It was in data from openstreetmap so I joined their forum to point out their errors.
They seem quite insistent that the county isn’t needed but the name of the council is.
For several years I have been under the impression that there is a converted policy to eradicate the countiesv and the history that goes with them.
In general council names don’t work in postal addresses for the reason that many of them clash with post town names. One does see it though. It’s tiresome to say the least. I’ve even seen ‘RCT’ put in addresses (short for ‘Rhondda Cynon Taff’ – three places!). Sigh.
