A society dedicated to celebrating and promoting the 92 historic counties of the United Kingdom and the important part they play in our culture, heritage and geography.
Our friends in the Yorkshire Ridings Society could not have dreamt of what they were starting starting 51 years ago. For Yorkshire Day is no longer just the biggest county day celebration but has become England’s largest community event. On 1st August the people of Yorkshire celebrate their shared community in an ever-growing variety of ways – many moving, some hilarious, a few positively bizarre!
There were hundreds, maybe thousands, of Yorkshire Day events going on over the weekend. We presents some highlights.
Huge congratulations to the Yorkshire Ridings Society, the Yorkshire Society, the Saddleworth White Rose Society and the many other organisations and individuals who have worked hard over many decades to turn Yorkshire Day into the huge celebration of God’s Own Country it has become.

Wonderful, as ever. Great photos. Happy Yorkshire Day to all! And for the whole weekend of celebration (let’s be cheeky and get two days this year!)
