Hampshire Day is celebrated on 15th July, the feast day of St Swithin, an Anglo-Saxon bishop of Winchester. In celebration we present our Portrait of Hampshire and some photos of today’s celebrations.
As the photos show, some of the local authorities in Hampshire embrace the county day. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to register with some local authorities. It would be particularly welcome if Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council were to celebrate Hampshire Day in those parts of its area in the county (Bournemouth, Christchurch, Highcliffe-on-Sea), whilst also celebrating Dorset Day (1st June) in those parts of its area in Dorset. Be good to see the Isle of Wight Council shake a leg too 🙂 This is 1,300 years of history and heritage we’re talking here!

Lovely to see the photos of people celebrating Hampshire day. As a proud Hampshireman myself I wish my village of Denmead in Hampshire would celebrate this day. Thank you for all the information you post about this wonderful day. God bless HAMPSHIRE.
