Proposed Flags from traditional county emblems.

A number of flags have been proposed for counties not currently on the registry. In many cases the flags feature symbols or themes already found in the county, used by civic authorities, sporting, cultural and historical organisations. Such patterns may not have been used previously, specifically as flags but their long-term association with any respective county makes them obvious candidates for deployment as flags. When the Flag Registry was first established in the early part of the twenty-first century it included a number of flags labelled as traditional e.g. Kent and Essex, since then research has demonstrated how other designs have similar “traditional” status and these have consequently also been registered as county flags; Caernarfonshire and Sussex are such instances. The flags featured in this group are further examples.
