After a lengthy debate regarding an appropriate flag for the county of Staffordshire and following consultation with the Flag Institute we have settled on a proposed design that features a gold Stafford knot on a red background, the original illustration coming from Brady Ells.

Brady has since drawn to my attention the fact that one of the county’s most famous sons, singer Robbie Williams  is also a fan of this symbol. He sports a Stafford Knot tattoo on his hand,

and also uses a stylised version of the device as the trademark for his fashion range

so hopefully, when we get round to promoting this proposal, we may able to enlist the Stoke man’s support!
