Invernesshire

The proposal comes from Philip Tibbetts. The colours are taken from the coat of arms of the Inverness shire County Council

Invernessshire CC Arms

The crossed devices are Lochaber axes as found in the arms of Lochaber district council in the county

Lochaber

which themselves derive from the arms of Fort William

Fort William

where they commemorate the Battle of Inverlochy in 1645 between the Marquess of Montrose and the Campbells.
